We would like to thank everyone who made last Saturdays SEEL Ball such a success.
We are very fortunate to have so many loyal sponsors who return year after year to support Eventing in the South East.
This year we decided to support the 'Georgie Campbell Foundation' as really close to our hearts, and always in our minds.
We can now publicly announce that the raffle and silent auction raised an amazing £7725 for the foundation, this doubles our previous record ! This could not of been achieved without the overwhelming number of raffle prizes offered, we thank everyone who donated.
Also a big well done to our ranking winners, well deserved all round.
We were very privileged to award a new trophy this year, ‘The Georgie Campbell Memorial trophy’ which goes to the top U18 SEEL member won this year by Emily Hamilton, who received the award from Georgie’s parents Ian and Debbie.
We do it all again next year, pencil in 22 November in your diary where again we will do it for the foundation. The official photos are now available on the link below, Julian will donate 50% of takings to the foundation, take a look and order your now.

FOUNDATION TO BE SET UP TO HONOUR MUCH MISSED FIVE-STAR RIDER |
Oct 2024 |
A foundation is being set up in memory of five-star rider Georgie Campbell with the aim of helping aspiring young event riders fulfil their dreams.
Georgie died in a fall while competing at Bicton International Horse Trials on 26 May this year and the foundation is being created by a close-knit group of her family and supporters who "love and deeply miss" her.
The Georgie Campbell Foundation aims to provide up-and-coming young event riders with the support to establish and run their own eventing business. This will take the form of a bursary, plus mentoring in all areas of the sport, including financial management and attracting and retaining staff, owners and sponsors.
Jo Williams, Georgie's older sister, commented: "Together with Georgie's husband, Jesse [Campbell], and my parents, Debbie and Ian [Strang], I wanted to set up a charitable foundation in Georgie's name to give back to the sport that my sister loved, specifically by providing the sort of help that would have made it easier for a young Georgie to set up her eventing business. The foundation will also provide a positive channel for our pain and help to keep Georgie's memory alive.
"We hope that the eventing community and beyond will support the Georgie Campbell Foundation so that we can pay it forward to aspiring young event riders for many years to come."
Bracelets designed in Georgie's purple and white cross-country colours have been created and will be sold to help raise money for the foundation.
They can be purchased here: https://www.cocoandjaneloves.com/products/georgie-campbell-foundation-charity-bracelet
The Georgie Campbell Foundation is the charity of choice for this year's annual South East Eventers League (SEEL) ball and awards, which will take place at High Rocks in Tunbridge Wells on 16 November 2024.
Georgie (née Strang), who was based near Tunbridge Wells for most of her life, was a well-known and much-loved face on the southeast circuit.
The SEEL ball — the highlight of the eventing social calendar in the southeast — has already sold out and more than 300 guests will gather for drinks and canapes from 6pm, followed by a three-course meal, live music from Bowman and a disco, with carriages at 2am.
There are, however, a limited number of 'after dinner' tickets still available. These can be purchased here: https://www.myridinglife.com/eventdetails.aspx?id=493918
A charity raffle and silent auction will also take place during the evening.

SEEL 'Equivation' Arena Eventing Championships 2023 |
Posted: Feb 2023 |
A cold and chilly day, but no rain at Golden Cross who hosted this years SEEL Arena Eventing championships.
Interesting and technical courses were set by Ian Bareham, including a 3 stride curving arrowhead skinny to a house, which the majority made look very easy if they had the correct line. Also included was a new podium fence which caused a lot of discussion beforehand but only had the one refusal all day!
30 starters came to post for the 80 finals and it became very obvious from the get go that the optimum time was very gettable. Fourteen combinations remained faultless round the 680 m, 19 fence course, so it was decided on who was nearest to the optimum time. The win went to Vicky Hulkins on the piebald Colonel Brandon who finished just one sec under the time. The runner up spot went to Coco Issac and the final podium place to Darcie Penfold.
80cm PRIZE WINNERS
The 90 Championships saw 6 faultless rounds with the faster required meters per minute optimum time again proving very gettable to those taking the inside turns and lines. Darcey Rawlinson took the podium top spot with a calculated round on Forthlock Moon HH, with Blyth Britton taking second spot and Jemimah Berkeley's consistent performer The Summit taking third spot.
90cm PRIZE WINNERS
The 100 Final was fast and furious with the increased meter per minute speed required to achieve the time with just the one faultless round. Blyth Britton aboard Balgoddy Blue went one better in this class after taking the runner up spot in the 90 to win from a strong field. Jemimah Berkeley also made the trip up from Southampton University worthwhile taking second spot with Jessica Moreton taking third spot
1m PRIZE WINNERS
A big shout out to Golden Cross, Pyecombe and Coombelands who have all run qualifiers throughout the season and a big thank you to Jake Tarrant and Equivation for sponsorship.
Next year the finals move to Pyecombe and dependent on sponsorship we hope to add 70cm qualifiers.
VICKY HULKINS ON COLONEL BRANDON 80 AE WINNERS
DARCEY RAWLINSON ON FORTHLOCK MOON HH SEEL 90 AE CHAMPIONSHIP WINNERS

What's new in 2023 We are contemplating running a SEEL pre Badminton grassroots dressage training day , hopefully on Sunday 23 April at Golden Cross. This will be run on a non profit basis, with discounted rates for SEEL members. To register your interest please email ian@ibequestrianservices.co.uk
We have a new overall grassroots sponsor for 2023, Sacha Hourigan will award an Amerigo Equipe saddle to this years lucky recipient. (further info on the SEEL website with contact details)
The veteran ranking age has been increased to 50 from this year
We are going to award a training bursary to the highest placed under 18 in the overall rankings and awaiting confirmation on further bursary's during the season for SEEL members in the U18 sections. Any companies or individuals who would be keen on sponsoring these awards gratefully received.
Brightling Park is back on the calendar for 2023,run by BEDE. Goring returns for 2023 with 2 dates as does Blindley Heath with a spring date added and there Autumn fixture.
Double ranking points in the 80 sections at the season finale at Littleton Manor

Southeast Eventers League End of Season Report |
Posted: November 2022 |
2022 has been a tricky year for the eventing community in the South-east with events cancelling and challenging ground conditions. However within the South East Eventers League we have seen some outstanding results and performances.
Gaspard Maksud has had a breakthrough year internationally, representing France at both the World Championships in Pratoni and Aachen. Domestically in the South-east, Gaspard and the 7yo mare, She's the One, have topped 2 rankings.
- The Equivation Leading Horse and Rider
- Wellington Riding Novice
This mare finished the season at Le Lion D'Angers in the 7yo world championships and looks like a top prospect for the future.
Gaspard Maksud recieving Eqivation LHR Trophy
SEEL committee member, Anna Hanson, returns to the league with a win in the Poppinghole Farm Mares and Stallions. Her ride Anderida Askadora, owned by Stathis Petracopoulos is an 11yo mare, who was initially brought out by Gaspard, before being taken on by Anna.
The highly competitive Voltaire Grassroots League was won by Jo Mair and Kilbrien Chris. Jo also won the LMEQ BE80 league.
Under 21 rider Archie Humfrey has enjoyed a fabulous first season with the 10yo gelding Hokus Pokus picking up the Equine Transport UK U21 award. Archie took over the ride on Hokus Pokus from Justin Chubley at the beginning of the season and have successfully progressed from BE100 to Novice level. Archie also went on to win at the Youth Championships at Bishop Burton and a member of the South East winning team. The Paramount ‘Reach for the Stars’ was also awarded for his achievements in 2022.
Archie Humfrey U21
Sam Jennings and Tessa Gooding's ex-racehorse, Just Perfect, are another of our multiple league winners. They have won the following;
- Profile Range BE100
- Horsebox Spa Ex-racehorse
- Coast Insurance Veteran Rider
Just Perfect is a 7yo gelding who started eventing in July 2021 and has successfully progressed from BE90 to Novice this season, finishing at South of England (2) with a double clear at Novice.
Horsebox Spa Winner
The Moorhouse Comms BE90 was won by Daisy Hills and her own 14yo gelding, Taurmore Buster. The Nachtigall Veteran Horse has been claimed by the 15yo gelding, Culmore JJ, owned and ridden by Dinah Smith. This lovely grey has been the model of consistency this year, gaining a win, 2 seconds, and a third in 4 runs.
SEEL Event of the Year - Wellington Horse Trials
The season ended in its normal end of season Ball and awards, this year ,back at its normal venue The High Rocks in Tunbridge Wells. It was so nice to see the majority of our prize winners and sponsors present for the evening for another memorable night. We are also pleased to report that the raffle raised £1600.00 for the KSS Air Ambulance,, massive thanks to all those that donated prizes and purchased tickets on the night. Ball date next year is 18 November, save the date.

SUPPORTING BRITISH EVENTING IN THE SOUTH EAST |
Posted: October 2022 |
Despite several Horse Trials being cancelled in the South East, The South East Eventers League was as competitive as ever in 2022.
The Equivation Leading Horse and Rider title was retained this year by French International Gaspard Maksud on She's the One, this combination also picked up the Wellington Riding Novice ranking.
Jo Mair on Kilbrien Chris took the much sought after Voltaire UK Overall Grassroots. Charlotte Bull was just nudged out late in the season. Jo also picked up the LMEQ 80 ranking along the way.
This years most prolific winner was Sam Jennings , Sam picked up three titles, The Profiles range BE100, Horsebox Spa ex racehorse and Coast Insurance Veteran rider.
Sam recently did a charity sky dive to raise funds for The British squad for the World Championships in Rome.
The annual Ball and Awards take place on 12 November at the High Rocks in Tunbridge Wells with a 'Red,White and Blue ' theme this year. We will again be holding a raffle during the evening to raise much needed funds for the KSS Air Ambulance.
SEEL has been operating now for 27 years and in that time has raised over £30,000 for local charities.

SEEL ARENA EVENTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 22 |
Posted: March 2022 |
Rosie is over the Moon Many thanks must go the Harwood family for hosting this years SEEL Arena Eventing finals held at Coombelands. Despite major improvements that are ongoing at the West Sussex centre, they came up trumps with 2 days of competitive competition in glorious sunshine.
The 80cm Championship saw a win for Lucy Hanby on Lomond Jepito, who gained her qualifying ticket at Pyecombe. From an early draw Lucy tackled John Farrells up to height championship course with ease to take the win from the 40 starters.
The 90cm championships saw Eridge PC member Rosie Moon aboard David's Boy take the class from a strong field of 35 starters. This combination qualified at Golden Cross and incidentally won the 80cm Championship last year. This was to be a monumental day for this combination as after some head scratching decided to tackle the 100cm finals for which they held an entry. An even better round saw Rosie double up on the day to take the 100cm title to conclude 2 days of fierce competition.
Championship winners will receive there trophies at the SEEL Ball and awards that return this year to the High Rocks in Tunbridge Wells on 12 November.

Sponsorship Opportunities for 2022 SEEL unfortunately find ourselves without a title sponsor for 2022.
We are forever grateful to K Crumley Construction for there support over the past 2 years,, in what must be said, very difficult times.
We are however now on the search for a new title sponsor for 2022 to allow us to continue awarding top notch prize money for the SEEL Leading Horse and Rider rankings. The benefit with any sponsorship with SEEL is that it covers a 12 month period rather than the one off class or individual show sponsorship.
We are open to all ideas and happy to discuss terms etc for 2022
For further information please email Ian Bareham on ian@ibequestrianservices.co.uk

Registrations are now open for 2022
Please don't forget that SEEL registrations have to be renewed every year. No registration, no prizes and will not be backdated after the event.

New 'Supergroom' Award for 2021 |
Posted: Jan 2021 |
Imogen McMurray has kindly offered to donate the new Hugh McMurray 'Supergroom' memorial trophy and a prize in kind in memory of her father who very sadly passed away earlier this year. Hugh was ever present around the South East circuit with Imogen, always happy to chat and always having a beaming smile, he will be sadly missed. This new award will be presented alongside the SEEL groom of the year trophy. Nomination forms will be downloadable from the SEEL website as the season gets underway.

Its that time of year to get registered for SEEL 2021 |
Posted: Jan 2021 |
Fingers crossed that we get the green light to resume sport in the spring and can run the SEEL rankings this year. We were devastated that we could not celebrate our silver anniversary in 2020, but there were more worldwide problems to face up to.
The website has been updated for this year with the same sponsors as last year who kindly agreed to carry there sponsorship over to 2021. Please remember that you need to re register even if you have been registered in previous years.
In other news, we are pleased that Pyecombe have been able to reschedule the K Crumley Construction SEEL Arena eventing finals to the weekend of 20/21 March on the condition sport can resume. Further qualifiers will be announced when out of lockdown.
The biggest blow to the committee was received in the new year when an email arrived from the High Rocks stating that they could no longer accommodate the SEEL Ball due to staffing problems arising from Brexit. We have had 20 of our 25 Balls at this venue and many thanks must go to them for making the running of the function effortless. If things change we will be back. The search is on for a new venue which can accommodate 350 plus guests at a competitive price and central within the south east we have penciled in a date of 13th or 27th November. Any ideas most welcome, please email ian@ibequestrianservices.co.uk

SEEL 2020...CORVID-19 STATEMENT |
Posted: March 2020 |
After lengthy discussions with the committee, stakeholders and sponsors, a decision has be made to suspend the league for 2020.
We feel that with no timeline on when the sport will be back on track, and then maybe only a handful of league events running that we cannot offer sponsors value for money or fulfill our commitments to them. Events may then be heavily balloted, and with the rankings decided on a limited amount of fixtures we will loose the kudos the league receives. At this stage, all sponsors in principal are happy to defer there sponsorship to 2021.
We will continue to send out regular newsletters to our extensive mailing list with any developments within the sport, and sponsors news,We will endeavor to support our loyal sponsors during this very difficult time.
The pre Badminton SEEL test training day has been postponed in line with BEF and government guidelines.
At this stage the 'Silver' Ball on 14th November will go ahead as planned, with awards only to the SEEL Arena Eventing winners.

SEEL Sponsorship News |

New sponsors and a new opportunity
We would like to welcome two new sponsors to the SEEL campaign for our 25th anniversary year in 2020.
Littleton Manor, rejoin as the new 80 ranking sponsor. LMEQ, needs no introduction to us as a former title sponsor in 2016. There has been some uncertainty for a number of years over the future of Littleton Manor Equestrian, the uncertainty is over...
We are thrilled and excited to announce that in 2019 we secured our future here and there is lots more to come from the LMEQ team!
Significant amounts have already been invested in the future including refurbishing the water jump and elsewhere on the Cross Country Course, underlining our continued commitment to providing a Cross Country schooling environment of excellence. Improvements have been made to the gallops and other facilities around the farm and there are exciting plans ahead for the arenas and other facilities.
LMEQ will continue to run training clinics with leading riders and trainers, offer first class facility hire and have various livery offerings across three yards at Littleton Manor Equestrian. We look forward to offering residential camps again and relaunching the Littleton Horse Trials - watch this space!
If you are interested in any of the above please give us a call or drop us a message and we look forward to reconnecting with the many of you that made the thought of leaving so hard! We can be found on 07771600033 or email emily@lmeq.com.
Bookings for xc and gallops can be made on My Riding Life, the link being on https://www.lmeq.com/facilities/cross-country-book-here.html
Also joining us for 2020 is Equine Transport UK as the new Under 21 sponsor. This newly formed company run by regular SEEL competitor Avril Verhagen
The company at present boasts four lorries, two 3.5ton one 7.5ton 3 horse with living we also have a six horse with driver. The 3.5 and 7.5 can be with or without driver. All vehicles can be hired for a day or a week. Delivery to your door is possible. Vet transportation also. Four very helpful knowledgeable drivers so available on demand. For further info and bookings please visit https://www.equinetransportuk.com/
And a new opportunity to become involved in our 'Silver' Anniversary year!
We on the look out for a new title sponsor. Vardags have very generously supported us for the past two years and have unfortunately advised us they are unable to continue their sponsorship . We thank them for being a big part of the SEEL community.
Hence, we are now searching for a new title/ Leading Horse and Rider sponsor for 2020 . We offer two packages one being the Title sponsor, which covers the LHR ranking and Arena Eventing Championships in 2021, the other the LHR ranking.
If anybody has any leads of any potential new sponsors please email us ASAP to ian@ibequestrianservices.co.uk.
The season is just a matter of days away and would like to tie up a new deal over the next month
As a volunteer committee we all work extremely hard to keep SEEL on the road, with no gain whatsoever to ourselves, please support our sponsors in whatever way you can, without them we would not exist.
